Custom 1/6 Jon Snow
To buy the official 1/6 scale Jon Snow by Threezero will run you nearly $175 if not more (to get the Ghost figure with it is an outrageous amount). Like I have said before, I love the website Monkeydepot.com... often times I look around their site just to see what is new and get an idea of the individual pieces they have if I decide to do another custom figure. While looking through, I found that they had for sale a Jon Snow body with the head, gloved hands, and booted feet for sale, only about $40. I already had a spare long sleeve black shirt and they have dark pants made to tuck into boots on their site for about $7. I studied the screen shots closely and figured out I needed the tunic, the top vest, Longclaw (the sword), and the cloak. I bought a different sword from MD and decided I could alter it just enough and pose him to hide the hilt. I also saw the other clothing pieces I needed for sale on ebay, but they were roughly $30 each to buy. At that rate, I could've just bought the figure out right!
So, what to do? Well, monkeydepot had a quilted jacket that I could cut and use for the tunic bottom. That was sewn to the bottom of the black shirt and the collar was sewn to the neck to give the illusion of the tan-top shirt his tunic has. Also, for my Thor cosplay pants, I had bought some pleather jeggings from Walmart; I know it sounds ridiculous, but they are stretchy and look enough like leather once they are aged that I can deal with it. I had some of that fabric left and decided I'd try to make my own vest. I actually went pretty smoothly when I used the seams already in the fabric to make the front of the vest that has a seam up the middle. The hardware was created with metallic fabric paint. Then, I made the cloak out of some textured felt and faux fur from Michaels. All of these pieces were weathered with black, white, and tan acrylic paint.
