Little Lion Christmas Coat

So I wish I had the idea for this originally, because it's so darn precious! I have the most adorable nieces, and my sister always tells me that the older one reminds her of me. If that is the case, she will grow up loving to dress up and loving lions. I was researching Christmas gifts to give her last November and stumbled upon a coat that was just too precious not to consider; sure the price was quite a bit out of our spending range, but it just got stuck in my mind. Helpful tip, if there is something you want that you can't afford (especially if it's fairly simple), go to ebay and find the closest thing to it.

I found a gold coat with the perfect toggle fasteners for less than $20. On a trip to Jo Ann fabric, I found the yard pieces that I needed to add the lion details. I skipped the yarn mane because I couldn't find the right color; that was lucky because I would've had no idea how to actually attach that. Anyways, with my new sewing machine, I added the mane, eyes, snout, teeth, nose, and some tiny claws. I skipped the tail because when she sat down or squirmed, I just new that would come off. So, sure, it's not perfect, but it was in my price range and she seems to look pretty happy in it. The beautiful original version was for sale at uncommongoods.com =)
